We don't use it enough to warrant spending sixty dollars a year, but the only alternative is for it to become increasingly obsolete. My Tomtom came to me right out of the box six quarters behind in map updates and now the company requires that I spend about 60 bucks a year to stay updated. By my thinking (kind of like with XM radio) I would be a much more loyal customer to Tomtom in the long run if they would provide their service at a better price point.
refurbished. The only addition that I would really like to see made available to us would be a woman's voice with a southern accent - "Tun lef jus up ahead, suga." The yank voices are difficult for us southerners to understand sometimes.We have used our new Tomtom on a couple of trips to unfamiliar cities and it has performed flawlessly. This Tomtom isn't an especially advanced GPS as compared to many, but it works just as it's supposed to and costs just over [.].
The speech technology is a vast improvement over the previous model in that now when we are in downtown areas where the streets are close together we know exactly where to turn rather than having to sometimes guess.This product would get a five-star rating, instead of four, if the Tomtom map update online service was either free or much less expensive. All of their additional pay services seem, at least to me, to also be somewhat overpriced.As to the product itself, we love it and would definitely buy the same product again and would buy refurbished from Amazon. I've always had great luck with refurbished electronics and this is no exception.
Tomtom also has a lot of free online user map updates and other features that allow you to customize your Tomtom.
Works great and with the bigger screen it's easy on the eyes. Even tho it's referbished i't looks brand new. Great product. I'm more than satisfied with this GPS system.
a few months into using my tom tom, the sound disappeared.everything else works great, just cant hear anything which is not cool :(
as the map upgrade for the unit normally has been used up. this Tom tom arrived in good shape and on a timely manner. only draw back to having a refurbished Tomtom is that you do not get a free map upgrade.
I don't know if that was true or not. I had no problem with mine. The condition was like new.
The pronunciation of many street names are not clear or are mis-pronounced.so I have to press the screen to have it repeat the instructions to decipher what was said. I installed it on the windshield and it stayed there for the whole week I was in Maryland until I removed it. I've read in some reviews that some people had trouble with windshield mount.
I purchased this gps about 1 month ago. It did a commendable job.I noticed that it gives accurate directions although some instructions in the city are not what I would chose to follow but they would get you to your destination. It held tight over all types of terrain and didn't blink or complain.I am happy with my decision to purchase this refurbished unit and would recommend this to anyone contemplating buying one of these.
I signed up with Tom Tom Home to check the version of the map installed and was told that the map installed was the latest version. I had the chance to really put this unit through its paces on a trip to Maryland.
